The genesis of Afronaut PRO stemmed from Bartek Sabela's illuminating work, "Afronautics – from Zambia to the Moon," chronicling Zambia's foray into space exploration. Motivated by this narrative, the designer embarked on a quest to create a typeface that harmonized vernacular Arabic script, futuristic design principles, and unique lettering encountered during extensive travels across GuinĂ©e, Bissau, Gambia, Senegal, Mauritania, and West Sahara.
Afronaut PRO boasts seven distinct weights, with numerous letters featuring three distinct forms. Its versatility extends to serving as a refined iteration of the acclaimed Yalla Typeface, further solidifying its status as a versatile and innovative font for contemporary design endeavors.
