The genesis of Afronaut PRO stemmed from Bartek Sabela's illuminating work, "Afronautics – from Zambia to the Moon," chronicling Zambia's foray into space exploration. Motivated by this narrative, the designer embarked on a quest to create a typeface that harmonized vernacular Arabic script, futuristic design principles, and unique lettering encountered during extensive travels across Guinée, Bissau, Gambia, Senegal, Mauritania, and West Sahara.
Afronaut PRO boasts seven distinct weights, with numerous letters featuring three distinct forms. Its versatility extends to serving as a refined iteration of the acclaimed Yalla Typeface, further solidifying its status as a versatile and innovative font for contemporary design endeavors.
